Fashion: Modern Day Misa

Sometimes I wake up and feel the need to look like an anime character. Today I felt like Misa Amane from Death Note.

I love fashion and all things ‘nerd.’ I always love mixing the two together to create eye-catching looks. Misa is one of my favorite characters from Death Note, which I have cosplayed in the past.

This outfit is great when you want to channel your inner goth and want to go for a more dark look. The dress is from H&M; I got it on sale last year. The lace really reminds me of something Misa would wear. I wanted something that can be worn everyday without it being a straight cosplay.

Makeup/hair:

I cut my hair two weeks ago. I haven’t had it this short in 6 years. I wanted a change so I just chopped it all off. Something I realized quickly with my short hair is its maintenance. With my long hair I would dry it in rollers then my hair is good for a week. With short hair the curls from the rollers don’t last more than a day or two and because of this I transitioned to doing hot rollers in the morning to keep the waves and volume. For extra texture and volume I use the Dry Bar Triple Sec 3-in-1 ($26). Then to finish of the look I use a VERY small amount of hairspray and add some argan oil.

I chose a simple winged look with a bold lip. I used Kat Von D Tattoo Line in ‘Trooper’ ($20). I topped off the look with Jeffree Star Velour Liquid Lipstick ($18) in ‘Scorpio.’
