It’s summer and we all know what that means…BEACH! Unfortunately, I live in New York and our ocean doesn’t get warm until like October, not really , more like the end of July/beginning of August. Although the ocean is cold and impossible to enjoy, my friends and I still make trips to the beaches in Long Island. Here’s an outfit idea for the beach, head below for more details.

For those that don’t border the North Atlantic ocean, you don’t know the struggle of our ocean being so cold. My friend from Hawaii underestimated the cold and went straight in and regretted it immediately. I almost never get in the ocean up here, so unless a pool is involved or I’m in the Caribbean, I usually don’t wear a bathing suit to the beach. So if you’re like me or you’re having your monthly gift and can’t enjoy being in a bathing suit, enjoy this beach outfit idea.

Halter crop tops are great for the beach. They allow you to still tan and this one is made of 95% cotton(so breathable material). I got this halter from Brandy Melville for $16, which is more than I was willing to spend, but it was super soft and I fell in love with the color and the bleach stains.

Shorts at the beach are your friends which goes without saying. Yet for some reason, I have seen people wear jeans to the beach on a sunny 90 degree day. Just don’t do it, you may die.

Not part of the outfit but more beauty related if you have wavy/curly hair like me, embrace it when you’re at the beach. Stand close to the ocean and the mist will hit your hair giving it an amazing texture. While, still on the subject of beauty, don’t go to the beach with full coverage make-up. I have in the past and its uncomfortable and I broke out a lot the next day. Wear a tinted moisturizer with SPF protection instead, I use Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Oil-Free SPF 20 ($44).

If you want to recreate this look here is where I got each article of clothing:

Halter Top: Brandy Melville – $16 (For the one I’m wearing. The one’s online are $12 for basic colors)

Shorts: T. J. Maxx – Here’s a similar pair from Pac Sun for $49.95

Necklace: I absolutely couldn’t find a similar necklace to this. I borrowed it from my mom, she said she found it from a vendor on one of her travels. Its a polished oyster shell, if you happen to find one comment below where you found it or if there’s a link to it.
